Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Dykho is a network for reporting missing people, reconnecting them with family, and finding families for people who've been found. This policy explains what information we collect, how it's used, and what choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses Dykho, whether or not you've created an account.
1. Information we collect
We collect information depending on how you use the platform:
- Account information — your name, email address, and a hashed password, or your Google account details if you sign in with Google.
- Case reports — the missing or found person's name, photo, description, last known location, and any other details you choose to include when filing a report.
- Tips — the message you submit on a case, and your name, email, or phone number if you choose to include them. Tips can be submitted without an account, and contact details are always optional.
- Newsletter subscriptions — the email address you provide when subscribing to updates.
2. How we use your information
- To verify your email address before your reports appear in public search, using a one-time code sent to your inbox.
- To connect reporters, tipsters, and coordinators around an active case.
- To review and moderate submitted reports before they're published.
- To send newsletter updates to subscribers — never to anyone who hasn't opted in.
- To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse.
3. What's public and what isn't
A case only appears in public search once it has been reviewed and approved by a moderator, and its reporter's email has been verified. Your account email and password are never shown publicly. Tips submitted on a case are only visible to that case's reporter and to platform administrators — never to other members of the public.
4. How we share information
We don't sell your information to anyone. We may share case details with local law enforcement or search-and-rescue organizations when necessary to help resolve a case, or when required by law.
5. Data retention and your choices
You can edit or delete any report you've filed, or unsubscribe from the newsletter, at any time from your account. If you'd like your account or personal data removed entirely, contact us using the details below and we'll process your request promptly.
6. Reports involving minors
Missing-person cases sometimes involve children. If a child is missing right now, contact your local police or emergency services first — Dykho is designed to support that process, not replace it. When filing or reviewing reports about minors, share only the details that help with identification and avoid publishing unnecessary personal information about the family.
7. Security
Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text. Sign-in sessions use signed tokens, and all traffic to Dykho is encrypted in production. Email verification helps confirm that reports are filed by real, reachable people.
8. Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. We'll respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Dykho evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of this page.
